Testimonies to a noble past
The ideal panoramic spot enjoyed by the village was appreciated by lots of noble families of centuries gone by, who chose the high plateau of Tisens as a place to build their residences and castles. The castle of Fahlburg was constructed in the 13th century as a defensive fortress in Prissian and was converted to a country home in 1615. The property has kept aspects of its old character in the form of ceramic tiled ovens and wooden panels up to the present day. Schloss Katzenzungen is a little older than Fahlburg and lies above Prissian. The machicolations that surround the grounds and served to provide defence are particularly striking, even if the fortress dwellers did not exactly throw hot tar, but stones, at their attackers.

The largest vine in the world
A Farm Holiday in Tisens means having the chance to admire what is probably the largest vine in the world. It may be found at Schloss Katzenzungen and is around 350 to 400 years old. The vine's canopy stretches over an area of 300 square metres, yielding grapes that are made into a unique white wine, which may be tasted on a guided tour.

Adventure paths in Tisens
A holiday flat in or room Tisens makes the ideal base for walks and hikes in the surrounding area. The position of the castle villages of Tisens and Prissian on the sunny high plateau to the south of Meran and the mild temperatures mean that walks are possible all year round. Views may be had of the whole Etsch river valley from St. Jakob or St. Hippolyt.

Tisens and Prissian feature two themed paths for the whole family. 24 animal figures and curious creatures line the International Felt Art Trail – a real eye-catcher, not just for children. Vorbichl 'Erlebnisweg' adventure trail path in Prissian was created by children from the village. This circular route is suitable for pushchairs, goes past fortresses and ruins and there are several points to stop at and admire the views. At one point on the trail, visitors can get to know what different types of wood sound like.
