Föhrnerhof farm
An ongoing success story
Föhrnerhof farm, with its hosts and interesting tales, offers us fascinating insights into its age-old history up to the present day.
1135
A historical farm
Föhrnerhof farm above Bozen was first mentioned in records as far back as the start of the 12th century. Wine was already being produced at the farm, which records indicate was sold in Gries.
1922
The wine tavern at Föhrner
Many years ago, this wine-producing farm would open its doors at harvest time as a 'Buschenschank'. Since then, this rather special place has been used for receiving and entertaining customers. In 1922, Föhrner was listed as a wine tavern in the address book of the city of Bozen and Parish of Gries.
1995
The Bracchetti family moves in
An experienced wine-producing family, the Bracchettis from Bozen were able to fulfil their dream of purchasing Föhrnerhof farm above Gries in Bozen. Thanks to their years of experience producing wine, the Bracchetti family found the ideal way to put their know-how into practice at Föhrnerhof. The farm was completely modernised, adapted to suit its purpose and refurbished.
The Bracchetti family is well known for trying out new things. Bruni, the mother, tried her hand in the kitchen of the 'Buschenschank' and learnt how to become an excellent cook. Her daughter Karin changed careers when taking over the organisation of the farm, after previously being involved in management, and was able to transfer her knowledge and experience to the farm. Karin quickly established herself as service manager and read up about the world of wine.
2002
Opening of Föhrner Buschenschank
Föhrnerhof reopened in new splendour as a 'Buschenschank' on the slopes of the Guntschnaberg. Bruni managed the kitchen and perfected her passion for pasta dishes - in particular, her unbeatable wafer-thin ravioli. Karin thought up new ideas and improvements for the converted 'Buschenschank' and continues to breathe new life into the 'Stube' at Föhrner. From the start, Karin worked closely with 'Roter Hahn' and ran the establishment in accordance with our quality criteria.
2015
'Roter Hahn 'Schankbetrieb' of the year
In 2015, Föhrner was crowned wine tavern of the year by 'Roter Hahn'. Contributing factors were the excellent wines from Föhrner as well as the uncompromising use and careful processing of raw ingredients from the farm. This award was crucial for enabling the farm's qualitative leap. Karin has always had a feel for how to improve things and she decided to include fewer tables, meaning less space for customers, yet giving the place more breathing space. Bruni helped improve the quality by working in the kitchen and serving up even tastier food, while Karin could pay more attention to her customers.
2019
Peace descends
After long consideration, Karin and her family decided to close the 'Buschenschank'. They couldn't keep up the quality standards mainly due to staff shortages. A new era began at Föhrnerhof, and life quietened down on the slopes of the Guntschnaberg.
2023
A new era
In 2023, Föhrner opened its doors once again. The 'Roter Hahn' cookery school made its home here. Together with 'Roter Hahn', Karin and her son Max welcome guests to the 'Roter Hahn' cookery school. Cooking events with experienced cooks are held, where regional farm dishes featuring regional produce with new interpretations can be cooked up and enjoyed. This signals a new beginning that stays true to the philosophy of the former 'Buschenschank' and now, once again, brings people closer to the rural world of South Tyrol.
