A holiday in a holiday flat or room in Truden im Naturpark will give you the chance to visit the visitors' centre in the village and examine the special features of the park in an exhibition or under the microscope.

Tradition and nature in harmony
The visitors' centre, the 'Alte Mühle', or 'Old Mill', which was converted in 2000, also affords insight into the traditional lifestyle and way of life in the southernmost mountains of South Tyrol. It features a completely functioning, three-storey elevator mill that still produces flour during the cereal-milling days in summer that is then made into bread baked in the house wood-fired oven. Memories of former handcrafts such as peat cutting, resin production or lime burning are kept alive. The programme at the visitors' centre aims to convey a sense of tradition to guests, which is still very popular with the population of Truden. A healthy and considered attitude to nature also plays a decisive role in the local lifestyle, as visitors will gather. A monument and landmark to this is a 600-year-old lime tree, which adorns the main square of the mountain village.

The gravel path leads steadily but gently uphill through deciduous and coniferous forest past vineyards over viaducts and through tunnels. Otherwise, a Farm Holiday in Truden im Naturpark has lots of hikes that are easy for families to do. Very popular with kids is the legend walk of around two kilometres' length, which teachers and primary school pupils have adorned with signs and works of art. A hike to Hochwand on Cisloner Berg mountain is a little more challenging, but rewards with an impressive view of the Lagorai mountain group, the Zillertal Alps, the Schwarzhorn and Weißhorn mountains, as well as the whole of the Etsch river valley.
Keen climbers will have their hands and feet full at 'Untere Mühle' climbing garden in the district of Mühlen at the heart of the Trudner Horn Nature Park. The facilities were refurbished in 2002 and guarantee climbing fun for the whole family.

Life to take to heart
Truden im Naturpark has lots more to offer than just fresh mountain air and wonderful views. The parish proves to be traditional and nature aware in its way of life as well as regarding cultural events such as the torchlight walk before New Year and the 'Almabtrieb' in September, when the cattle are driven back down to the valley. Even everyday life seems to flow naturally and harmoniously in this little mountain village – and visitors can go with it.
