The 'Dandelion Weeks' are a highlight of springtime in Laurein. This is one of the oldest culinary events held in South Tyrol.
These themed weeks have taken place on Deutschnonsberg since 1996 and were initiated by the herbalist pastor Hermann-Josef Weidinger. The healing powers of the dandelion have been well known in the rural world since ancient times, but during 'Dandelion Weeks', this herald of spring is also capable of playing the starring role when it comes to culinary matters. Visitors taste dishes made from the leaves, flowers and roots of this wild plant or attend one of the cookery courses on offer during their stay in a holiday flat or room. Herb walks and a dandelion festival are on the agenda, too. Besides involving nature and culinary matters, a Farm Holiday in Laurein will also feature lots of culture. The late-Gothic parish church of Laurein is over 500 years old. Its gold-plated altar is a special highlight.
