High Altitude Trail Stabeler
High altitude trail Stabeler - one of the classic high altitude paths in South Tyrol!
The hike is rated intermediate for level of difficulty and offers unforgettable moments. The tour requires experience, not to suffer from vertigo, sure-footedness, physical fitness as well as suitable equipment.
Bruneck/Brunico - Weißenbach/Rio Bianco 25 km
We start from Weißenbach/Rio Bianco, car park Sportbar. On the trail nr. 24 we hike in direction of the Gögealm hut. From there, we continue to the Rifugio Porro-Chemnitzer Hütte (2419 m) – possible sleeping accommodation. After that we start our tour on the high altitude path Stabeler, nr. 24 a to Gelenkscharte Col (2,724 m). (A bit after – possibility for descent trough Mitterbach valley). We descend with the aid of metal ropes and then walk up to Schwarzenbachtörl Col (2,554 m). We continue always on path nr. 24 a, pass the Schwarzenbachtörl Col (2,554 m) and after the Zu Törla Col (2,704 m), before we reach the path nr. 23, which leads up to the Rifugio Vittorio Veneto-Schwarzensteinhütte (2,922 m), (evt. ascent – difficult – additional time needed: 1 h – possible sleeping accommodation). Descent trough the Rotbachtal valley, path nr. 23, we pass the Daimeralm hut (1,862 m) and the Schöllbergalm hut (1,740 m) and reach Lutago di Sopra-Oberluttach.

The tour is possible also in the opposite direction.
