General description
This easy, generally flat hike leads through the meadows and forests along the Maiser Waal irrigation channel and is especially popular with families who even enjoy walking the route on hot summer days.

Route description
The starting point of this family-friendly hike along the Maiser Waal irrigation channel is the tourist information office in Scena. Here Rothalerweg (road marked no. 10B) leads down to the Maiser Waalweg trail. This trail runs along its mostly shady route through mixed forest and orchards past the Waalerhaus (a hut for irrigation channel maintenance workers) as far as the Hirzer cable car to Saltusio. The return journey to the starting point in Scena is by public bus.
