Sarentino Paese/Sarentino Village/Sarnthein
Ski Tour to the Hörtlaner Spitze Peak
This ski tour is a real Sarntal valley classic amongst high-winter tours in the Durnholztal valley and is popular with local mountaineers.
Starting point is the Valdurna/Durnholz car park. After a brief ascent to the outflow of the lake, take the road along the orographic right side of the lake to the Fischerwirt hotel (open all year round). From here continue to follow the road into the Seebachtal valley until you reach a sharp right-hand bend. Then continue straight on through the winter landscape covered in deep snow along the stream to the Seebalm Alpine farm (1,802 m). From here, stay on the northern side of the valley to the narrow valley end. Then head steeply uphill over a ramp to just below the Flaggerscharte gap (caution: steep slopes, avalanche danger!). Head left from here towards the Hörtlaner Spitze peak and via the western slope to the peak or directly to the Flaggerscharte gap and the nearby mountain hut (winter room open, blankets and self-service kitchen available). Go past the Flaggersee lake and you come to the cross on the peak.
Return via the same route (take care on the rocky ledges).
From Bolzano fallow the signs for Val Sarentino/Sarntal.
