Highly detailed hand-made nativity scenes are on display in the windows and courtyards of the village’s historic lanes.
During Advent, a large nativity scene exhibition takes place in the little lanes of St. Pauls. Over 150 nativity scenes show the long Tyrolean Christmas tradition and the craftsmanship of past decades. The highlight is a ‘living nativity scene’ which is performed several times, while every day from 4 pm the illuminated windows and courtyards in the village host nativity scenes from all over Central Europe. St. Pauls looks like a fairytale at Advent. The majestic Christmas tree in front of the church, the ‘Dom am Lande’ (‘cathedral in the countryside’), and the illuminated garlands and stars in the village alleys create a special atmosphere. Visitors can stroll through these narrow streets and admire lots of nativity scenes behind the windows, bay windows, niches and corners of the historic houses. You can see nativity scenes of all shapes, sizes and styles, old and modern, true works of art, handcrafted masterpieces and collectors' items.
