This high-stakes horse race has been held since 1935 and still retains its magical appeal in steeplechase racing.
This year, the Meran Grand Prix will take place as usual on the last Sunday in September at the Meran racecourse. The competition, with prize money of 250,000 euros, was once considered to be the most prestigious horse race in Europe. This demanding race is held over 5,000 metres, and horses and riders from all over the world have to overcome 24 obstacles of varying size and difficulty. The Meran racecourse is one of the most demanding in Europe, and it’s very popular with spectators, since most of it runs directly in front of the onlookers so they don’t need to use binoculars.
