The Rittner Bahn departs from Oberbozen and Klobenstein every half hour, connecting two Christmas markets.
The Christmas market in Ritten, known as the "Rittner Christbahnl” (Ritten Christmas Train), can be visited at two locations, Oberbozen and Klobenstein. Getting to the Christbahnl by cable car and narrow-gauge railway is a unique experience in itself. From Bolzano, visitors can take the Ritten cable car to Oberbozen, and once there, can have a good look round the first Christmas market. The Rittner Schmalspurbahn (Ritten narrow gauge railway) then continues on to the second Christmas market in Klobenstein.
In contrast to the large, very lively Christmas markets in the cities, the Rittner Christkindl is particularly peaceful and contemplative. Local feel-good dishes, high-quality handicrafts and a varied supporting programme are the hallmarks of the Rittner Christbahnl.
On 8 December, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the Rittner Bauernadvent (Rittner Farmers' Advent) also takes place near the railway station in Klobenstein. Visitors can enjoy peasant specialities and purchase unique handicrafts.
