Tasting typical white wines coming from Neustift Abbey near Klausen to the southern reaches of Eisack valley is a highlight for all wine lovers.
In early summer, the alleyways of the artists' town of Klausen boast a mile's worth of tasty treats: sommeliers serve the characteristic grape varieties in the form of top Eisack valley wines along various wine tasting points at Sabiona Wine Festival. Säben Abbey, which gives its name to the festival, may be seen perching high above the town.
The grape varieties, mostly grown in the southern Eisack valley, on the slopes beneath the Seiser Alm plateau and the area between Klausen and Neustift, are Müller-Thurgau, Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Kerner, Sylvaner and Gewürztraminer.
A festival about exquisite Eisack valley white wines, where your can try regional delicacies too.
