The farm
The Wegmacherhof is an inherited farm and has been owned by the Gabloner family for more than 200 years, consisting of three generations. It is very centrally located, in what is probably the most beautiful corner of Kastelruth and is easily accessible without a car. In 1984, the grandparents Sepp and Moidl built a new pen and changed the local animal breed Pinzgauer to the Holstein breed (Black and White). Good milk quality and a long lifespan for the animals have been important to all of us for years. Several awards bear witness to this. Edith, our oldest cow, was more than 18 years old and had 15 calves, of which we still have some in the barn today. The offspring spend their summer holidays on the Seiser Alm and enjoy the beautiful mountain world, such as the Langkofel and Plattkofel and the Schlern. Our work is GMO-free and our chickens lay an egg for breakfast every day. An old meadow orchard and a traditional cottage garden reflect our love for nature and agriculture.
