Distilling schnapps has a long tradition in South Tyrol. Every farmer’s recipe is a closely guarded secret. The ‘Roter Hahn’ trademark stands for high-quality distillates that South Tyrolean farms produce from their own fruit. Only specially selected and perfectly matured brandies are sold under the brand. In addition to a sensory test, all types of spirits are checked annually for their methanol content and every three years for copper content. This ensures that nothing goes awry in the boiler. When stored for long enough, the flavour of the spirits becomes refined. This makes for a fruity to full-bodied drinking pleasure.
