South Tyrolean farms are ideal as a retreat for winter holidaymakers who want to breathe fresh winter air and enjoy warm hospitality. After a hearty farm breakfast, it's just a few steps through the snow. Then it's time to get on your skis and hit the trail.
Glide quietly through the picturesque landscape, look up at the impressive peaks of the three-thousanders and return home to your hosts after cross-country skiing. Relaxing hours await you there in cosy holiday apartments and rooms.
For professionals and leisure skiers
The around 30 cross-country ski trails in South Tyrol are spread across the whole country. Some of them belong to the Dolomiti Nordicski network, Europe's largest cross-country ski carousel. In addition to the large cross-country skiing resorts with many kilometres of slopes, there are also smaller trails in a relaxed environment. Thanks to the different route lengths and altitude metres, both beginners and professionals will find the right destination. Depending on your preference, you can choose classic or skating style. Some of the trails are lit up in the evening and thus offer the perfect setting for cross-country skiing experiences in a breathtaking atmosphere. Anyone who wants to try something new can also try their hand at biathlon.
Cross-country skiing in South Tyrol's side valleys
When cross-country skiing in South Tyrol, you'll find yourself on the right track, especially in the side valleys. For example at the Reschenpass or in the higher side valleys of the Pustertal valley. Above all, the Antholzertal valley has long since gained international fame among gliders and skaters thanks to international competitions. In the Gsiesertal and Martelltal valleys, cross-country skiing fans can often do their laps alone. In the Sarntal and in Ridnaun enthusiasts will find wonderfully groomed cross-country ski runs, too, which lead directly past your holiday farm.
